We’re off at dawn on the 6hr drive to go retrieve our children from my parent’s place, but I thought I’d share before I leave.

The Scrap Shotz Kit for August is the lovely SEI Poppy line.  It’s a beauty!  Here are a couple of my reveal projects:

I am busy working on the Scrap Shotz August kit reveal, it just lends itself to cards, so pretty!  I’ll post them here once they can go ‘public’. 😉

——————————————————————————-

I decided to check out the 2 Sketches 4 You card sketch blog (http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/).  I see a lot of familiar faces over there.  This week’s sketch was singing to me so I decided to whip up a little card based on it…

Oh and in case anyone is curious… the Scrap Shotz Gives Back crop challenge raised $145 for the Make A Wish Foundation! Isn’t that FABULOUS??  Thanks to everyone who participated.

Well, the crop was a success!  Everyone rocked out and scrapped their little hearts out!  The prizes will be drawn this evening so we’ll have several happy scrappers at Scrap Shotz tonight. 🙂

I thought I’d share a couple of the challenges I did for the crop.

Here is a spinner card I made for Guest Card DT Ann’s “You Spin Me Round” Challenge:

Here’s a simple LO for DT Virginia’s True Colours Challenge:

And some cards I made ‘blindly’ for Virginia’s Progressive Card Challenge (Rock around the Clock):

Lastly, we kicked the whole thing off with our second ever Scrap Shotz Gives Back Challenge.  For everyone tht participated in the challenge Scrap Shotz is donating $5 to the Make A Wish Foundation, a very worthwhile cause!  For this challenge, Creative Planner Kathy challenged us all to create a LO or card somehow inspired by music, easy right??  Here’s mne:

All in all, it was a Rockin’ Good Time!  We had a blast swaping you tube links and can’t wait to do it again!

Next up, anyone interested in a card challenge?  After the crop, I was left with oodles of scraps so I posted a card challenge on Scrapshotz to help make use of all of those little bits.  I am drawing for a RAK on Sunday night for this one so you might want to check it out!

You can find the challenge here: http://www.scrapshotz.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=19703

Here are two that I whipped up in a half-hour yesterday (see how easy it is?) loosely based on a Pagemaps sketch:

Perspective

OK, I suck.  I’m a bad blogger, and I freely admit it.  I have taken some time away from the non-essential parts of my life and here’s why.  My family received some devastating news a couple of months ago, my FIL has cancer.  Not just cancer but stage 4 cancer, and it’s in multiple places throughout his body.  He is not going to get better but is undergoing “supportive treatment”.  He just turned 62.  The kicker is they don’t know for sure where it started or why, he has no risk factors… at all.

This has caused me to reflect on a lot of things… what’s important and what’s not mostly.  I have gained much perspective, and grieved in advance for my FIL, and what this means for my husband and my children.  Now that I have taken time away, spent lots of time with him and we seem to be in a bit of a holding pattern, I’ve decided to get back to life.  But a better life.  One where I keep my priorities in check and relish all the joys life can bring, ‘cuz you never know when that may change.

So scrappers, crafters and card-makers everywhere… benefit from my experience!  Don’t sweat the small stuff.  Spend more time making the memories than scrapbooking them.  Don’t take life too seriously and cherish your families.

Cheers,

Jen
